POOLS THAT MAKE THEIR OWN CHLORINE!
To those that we built a pool for last year: If you have a chlorine generator on your pool, don’t be surprised if the water goes a little cloudy when you turn on the pool for the first time this spring. When the water is still cold, it is common for the chlorine generator to produce a ‘milky’ look. This is normal and it will clear on it’s own without any specialty chemicals. Save your bucks for the fun things, like floats and toys. If you do have questions call us. Not sure what a chlorine generator is? Definitely call us! -Max

I guess I agree with you but maybe if you explained it just a little more I could learn more. Thanks in advance.
No problem. A chlorine generator is actually a simple concept. Sodium Chloride (NaCl)–salt–is added directly to the water–enough to get to approximately 3000-3500 ppm but barely enough to even notice it is there. (Different systems have different requirements). The generator then uses an electroplate system to separate the sodium compound from the chloride compound. The chloride is then converted into hypochloromous acid. This is the working part of chlorine and this is what sanitizes and disinfects. When it is ‘spent’, it reverts back t the full salt compound. If you live in an area where the calcium in the water is high you may get some calcium build-up on the plates and this would reduce effectiveness so you have to clean the plates (very easy in our system). Occasionally, you need to add some salt to replace salt lost through splash out and evaporation. If there is not enough salt, the generator cannot produce enough chlorine and algae can grow. It is also important to add enough stabilizer to get to about 60-70 ppm. This is higher than normally required for the tablet/liquid shock users, but a generator produces chlorine that is not stabilized and if you have a low stabilizer level and it get real hot, the machine may not be able to produce enough chlorine to keep up with the pool needs.
In short, it is a great system that requires very little maintenance and works well. And you never have to ask a neighbor or family member to look after your pool (and hope they remember) while you are out of town on business or on vacation.
I go to your site from time to time and I just have to mention that I like your template!
