Sundance Spa Advantage
Last December one of the premier lines of spas became available to us and we enthusiastically took them on. Sundance Spas offers a truly unique spa ownership experience. Sundance offers a combination of luxury performance and quality that is unrivaled in the spa industry. Around 5 years ago Sundance rolled out their Fluidix ST jets, a true game changer is spa technology. Jets on spas have always been the Achilles heel on a spa. Everyone likes a jet that gives movement to the water and in the past and still today spa manufactures accomplish this by putting ball bearings into a jet and the force of the water swivels the jet around. The problem with these type of jets is, ball bearing and water aren’t a recipe for a long lived product. The jets eventually get calcified and stop spinning or the bearings wear out and the jets pops out spitting ball bearing into the tub. In either outcome, the customer needs to replace the jet (and there are lots of jets on a spa). The Fluidix ST jet from Sundance has done away with all moving parts of a jet and gives the bather an unparalleled massage experience far better then your typical jet with bearings. I personally sold these jet in Cleveland at a retail store I once worked for and since I’ve been around them, I haven’t seen one jet malfunction. Most spas offer a one year warranty on jets, due to the fact that they don’t last very long. Sundance offers in industry leading 5 year non prorated warranty on their jets!
European Vs. American Sauna Experiences
I lived in northern Europe in a small country called Estonia for a couple years, where I was fortunate enough to find my wife. Over in northern Europe, they take their sauna experience seriously. I think once you understand and experience the sauna culture, you and your family will be hooked as well.
Sauna’s in Europe were first used as a way to wash the family in a period when electricity and plumbing were not as developed as it is today. Also, northern Europe’s climate, for much of the year it is really cold. Sauna’s, were and are a great way of staying clean and warm at the same time.
From my experience, sauna’s are a fantastic way of washing oneself. Showers merely rinse the dirt and body oil off the exterior of your skin. As opposed, sauna’s allow you to sweat out all of the dirt, oils and impurities out of your skin. Usually in Europe, the bather will go several rounds in the sauna, take a breather, rinse off and have a snack or a drink in between rounds. Once the sauna is over the skin feels completely entirely different then washing with a shower and since you are cleaner to begin with, you stay cleaner longer.
My favorite part about sauna’s is the social aspect. In Northern Europe friends and family get together and make a social event out of it. Snacks and beverages are provided and everyone slows down and takes time and spend it together. Europeans are all together less shy then Americans, so you might want to wear a towel!
Cincinnati Reds Discussions
During slow periods the staff of Eastgate Pools likes to discuss potential strategy and player moves we might suggest for the organization. Whether to keep Arthur Rhodes in the closing spot or who the starting center fielder should be. Every day after a game, guaranteed, at least 10 minutes is dedicated to the finer nuances of the previous nights game. So, as the Reds make the final push for a playoff spot, and you happen to be in our store, if you are looking for some small talk you won’t have to try hard if you talk Reds baseball.
Rain And It’s Effect On Pool Water
It’s a pretty common occurrence that after a big rain storm, a lot of customers come in complaining of green pools. I will try to explain, as best I can, what rain does to your pool water and how to treat your pool to prevent it from going green from a heavy rain storm.
When it rains a lot, it brings in a lot of contaminants into your pool. It brings in pollen and other organic debris from many valleys over and your chlorine is often used up getting rid of these contaminants. Therefore your pool has used up its sanitizer and there is nothing there to prevent algae from gaining a foot hold in your pool.
Rain is very acidic and chlorine is also very acidic. If PH is not regularly adjusted and your pool drifts on the acidic side it burns off your chlorine in a much faster rate then it normally would.
So, sometimes it’s a combination of things that will lead to your green pool after a rain storm. The simplest and best recommendation is to maintain your PH in a regular fashion and when a big rain comes, shock your pool. Shocking your pool, in most cases should keep your pool clean and clear. The dosage for shocking your pool is 1 gallon of shock per 10,000 gallons of water. I often hear customers that have a 25,000 gallon pool, explain that they’ve shocked their pool with a gallon and it didn’t help. It’s not enough. If your are having problems, at least put the recommended dosage. Sometimes, you’ll even need to double it or triple it depending on the severity of your issue.
Help Us To Help You
This time of year everyone is frantically trying to get their pools up and running for the summer season. Sometimes when we open our pools we need parts that have broken over the winter or o-rings and gaskets that no longer seal properly. We try to do a great job at Eastgate Pools by trying to “fish” for the right answer for a given problem, but if you have a part you need and take an extra couple minutes to note any information you can get off of the equipment you are trying to fix, it will ensure that you go home with the correct part and we will be able to fill your order in a more timely fashion.

How Eastgate Pools Differs From The Other Guy
I am a journeyman retailer that has recently come back to Eastgate Pools after a long departure. I’ve seen the inner workings and the difficulty of managing a large full service retail store. I personally have noticed that a lot of retailers put sales numbers before the customers over all experience when purchasing. It feels good being a salesman having the confidence that when you sell a product that the company is able to follow through with the high expectations that the customer has at the time of purchase. Eastgate Pools does this better then any company I’ve ever worked for. It quite frankly makes my job, as a salesman, easy. In many cases customers come in having purchased from us in the past and because of their experience they comment, “I wouldn’t purchase from anyone else”.
This was a true comment from a customer I helped this weekend.
It’s good to be back!
