Billiard Cloth
When it comes to picking a color and type of cloth for your pool table it can sometimes be a struggle. If you are selecting a color for your new table or for recovering you existing table, I suggest selecting a color that is more of an accent color in your room. With such a big splash of color you don’t want your area to be too monochromatic. I know I’m no designer, but I always seem to find customers agree with that perspective. We carry tons of different colors so I’m sure we will have something that will work in your rec room. Everything we carry is also Teflon protected for easy clean up and durability. We also carry blended cloth to ensure the longest possible life for your cloth. Some higher wool cloth might play slightly faster and have less resistance, but they tend to wear more quickly while actually costing more. A New Take On An Old Standard . . .
One of the best selling game table choices in my 7 years here at Eastgate Pools has been the conversion top. In case you don’t know what that is, it is a two piece table tennis surface that you place on top of your pool table, air hockey table, dining table, or other surface to have a regular 9’ x 5’ playing surface. Well, we just recently received a new style that solves the old problem of protecting the surface underneath. Our new model is thicker than older models (measuring 5/8” thick) and has a completely rubberized bottom for ultimate protection. All this and accessories included and reasonably priced to boot. It’s Tip Off Time!!!
I won’t say what college basketball team is my favorite as I’m sure I am in the minority here, but this is the start of my favorite sports season of the year. NCAA basketball is incredible especially when you consider we are in the home stretch for the NFL and college football. At any rate, I thought this might be a good time to point out a new product line here at Eastgate Pools…just in time for your basketball viewing pleasure. Pool Cue Tips
We have sold thousands of cues over the many years we’ve been in business at Eastgate Pools. From time to time the tips of these cues wear out and need replaced. This is a job that customers often look for help with. We have the items at our store that can help you with this project and here is some advice if you plan on undertaking this project.
- Essentially make sure the tip and cue surfaces are clean, maybe using a piece of sand paper.
- Use superglue (ideally gel based as water based superglue can be too brittle) or a cue tip cement to attach your tip.
Then place the tip on the cue and press down firmly with your finger. Leave the cue for as long as possible to form a good bond, ideally overnight at least. We recommend that you clamp the tip down to make a tight seal. (of course we sell this clamp or an entire cue tip repair kit)

Billiard Table Cloth
You can dramatically increase the life of your table’s cloth simply by changing ends when you break. Alternate ends when you break and the cloth will not wear as badly. Also, brush the table frequently. No only does this help keep the table clean, it restores the cloth’s pile or nap and keeps the balls running true. — Max

Sometime when you have some time to play around on the web, like after you’ve checked out the entire Eastgate Pools web site, do a search for Gatlinburg Chalet Rentals. Go to a few realtors’ web sites and you will notice a common theme. More and more rentals feature hot tubs, pool tables and game tables. Chalet owners know that prospective renters are looking for quality time to spend with their loved ones, and they are looking to have fun, as after all, the renters are on vacation. By providing these amenities, the chalet owner increases the likelihood of renting out their property.
This Gatlinburg phenomenon reminds me once again why Eastgate Pools & Spas’ motto is “Resort living …at home”. Vacations are great, but the same things that help make vacation fun can be enjoyed year-round right in your very own home.

As I approach my sixth winter here at Eastgate Pools I’m excited to get back to talking pool tables. My background has always been in furniture and that immediately helped me to understand what goes into a good pool table. Buying a quality pool table is simple if you know going in to not let yourself get too caught up by a manufacturer name or a sales pitch. The most important things to look for in a quality table are solid wood top rails and aprons, a slate playing surface, and quality natural gum rubber cushions. If you have these three components you are well on your way to a product that will be with you for years and years to come. The rest of the details are just about what kind of furniture you want. Naturally, a solid wood construction is very nice and routing in the cabinet can be very attractive, but they aren’t necessary for the durability of the table. In other words, if you see a table here that you like you can buy based on the look and price you like. No matter what you choose you can feel comfortable knowing you bought a table that will play and last just as well as that brand X table your friend paid $5000 for. - Craig
Looking For A Game Table Or Pool Table?
As the billiard and game table buyer for Eastgate Pools & Spas, my attention increases any time I see ads for these product lines. What I have noticed during the last year or so, and especially very recently, is that many of my competitors have reduced their offerings of game tables and pool tables. Well, I am happy to report that Eastgate has not followed their example, as our selection of game tables and pool tables is as large, if not larger than ever. While billiards and game tables is just a little side item for some stores, it is an important part of Eastgate Pool’s constant desire to provide resort living at home for our customers. So while others are cutting back to save some money on inventory, our game table and pool table selection is as large as ever.
