They say that the early bird gets the worm, but sometimes the procrastinator gets rewarded as well. I know, for us planners, this doesn’t always seem fair. What does this have to do with Eastgate Pools & Spas? Plenty!
Recently, we received a phone call from Telescope Casual, a 100+ year-old American casual furniture manufacturer. They were preparing to update their Chicago Merchandise Mart Showroom with 2011 product. The Chicago area dealer that was supposed to buy the showroom full of 2010 product backed out at the last minute and Telescope needed a another dealer to step up to the plate. Having purchased the showroom numerous times in the past, Eastgate Pools was familiar with the logistics involved, and we made Telescope an offer. The offer was accepted and last Wednesday a group of us made the trip to Chicago to prepare the showroom for its move to Cincinnati. By Thursday afternoon, several 53’ truckloads of Telescope Casual furniture were on their way back to our store.
So, how does this all fit together? For those customers that were planning on buying new outdoor furniture this spring and haven’t gotten around to it yet, you can purchase quality Telescope Casual furniture at greatly reduced prices. We bought right and we are passing on the savings. So don’t worry that spring has become summer. Your procrastinating has paid off! Spring Fun
Recently friends of ours had a baby boy and with my wife and I expecting a boy in April, we started thinking about the fun we will have together this spring. Sure we will be busy with the babies, but what better way to wind down with a cold drink of your choice and friends. Think Spring
I know Spring is right around the corner. At least I keep telling
myself this every time the Weather Channel mentions the chance of more
snow.
I’ve decided to “think Spring” and start planning on what new patio
furniture will replace what I have now.
I will start seeing many of the new styles and colors coming to the
floor within the next couple of weeks. Just in case I don’t see the
one that is just right for me, I also have the option of choosing
from several outstanding manufacturers. Each of them have several
styles and lots of different fabric selections and best of all I will
have plenty of time to order and have my new furniture at my home in
time for the warmer weather.
My children also are really excited about my new purchase because
they will inherit my 10 year old Telescope furniture It is still in
great condition after all that time. Turns out it is a win-win
situation.
The Great Showroom Switch
It’s getting to be that time of year again. 2010 Casual Furniture is starting arrive, and space is limited. With that being said this is a fantastic time of year for those of you that are looking for game tables, poker tables, bars, or billiard tables. There is a premium on space which translates to great savings demo items. I know there are people out there that may look down on demos because they may have a blemish on the surface. Myself personally I am not one of those people, having 2 children I fully realize that if there is not a blemish on it now there will be one soon after it arrives at my house. I encourage those of you that may be looking for these items, and as most of us are wanting to get them for a steal of a price to stop in. Keep in mind these are demos and once they are gone they are gone.
Casual Furniture In The Off Season
The colder it gets the less likely everyone is to think about spending time outside, but that doesn’t mean we have tucked all of our furniture away for the year. When the temperature starts to drop we switch over our two showrooms so that the more seasonal merchandise is in our larger showroom. While the scenery is different when you first walk in we still have an entire showroom of casual furniture, as well as some all weather wicker options in our main showroom. If you have the space to store it, or if you are looking for something unique as a gift idea you can take advantage of some very good off-season discounts. We have a tremendous number of demo sets, and still have quite a few Telescope Merchandise Mart buyouts. Freezing Weather And Casual Furniture
Fall is officially here, and though we will certainly have many beautiful autumn days to be outdoors, it is a good time to remind everyone that winter’s freezing temperatures can ruin your outdoor furniture. Today, I would like to remind everyone that each piece of furniture should be checked before we get any freezing weather to make sure that no water is trapped inside the frame. If you can feel or hear water inside the frame, it needs to be removed in order to prevent frame and finish damage. Once the water is out, make sure you either cover the furniture with a good quality furniture cover or store it in an area where it will not take on additional water. If you have questions on getting your outdoor furniture ready for winter or need help on finding the right size cover for your set, just let us know.
Winter And Patio Furniture
As the leaves begin to fall and the winter months begin to roll in we all recognize that it is time to close the pool. What is often forgotten is that your casual furniture needs some attention as well. Naturally, if you have a place to store your furniture that is your best option, but if you don’t have the luxury of storing your furniture please make sure you take the necessary steps to protect it. There are a wide variety of furniture covers to protect your investment from the harsh effects of winter. There are covers for everything from individual pieces to complete table sets. If your furniture is cast aluminum a cover should suffice. If your frames are in any way hollow there are probably “weep holes” in the frame to make sure water doesn’t stay in the frame and potentially freeze. Manufacturers will not cover freeze damage under most warranties so this is especially important. If you have a stone top of some kind be sure to seal the top with the recommended sealer. Some manufacturers may have very specific requirements for winter protection so make sure you check any hang tags on your merchandise for suggestions. While many products could weather the storm, so to speak, you will only improve the life span of your furniture by covering it and following a few preventative procedures.
