Spring Is On The Way
I need Spring,sunlight and warmer weather. Thankfully Santa Clause is long gone and the Easter Bunny can’t come soon enough for me.
I look forward to sure signs of Spring at the store. In a few weeks we will be seeing new colors and new styles of outdoor patio furniture along with our extensive selection of returning favorites. I am really anxious to see and try out the Amish made poly furniture made from recycled materials. The colors are bright and cheery and would add a splash to any back yard.
I enjoy talking to the swimming pool customers that are now coming through the doors. I get a chance to talk about a warm weather,summer fun item. It is fun to imagine that in about ten weeks they could be looking out the window and see an addition that is going to give them a whole season full of entertainment.

My Treacherous But Informative Trip To Holmes County
Not so long ago I made mention of a new recycled polymer furniture line set to hit the floor here at Eastgate Pools. Well early last week, after an instore, meeting I followed 71 up to Columbus and off to 62 towards Berlin Ohio. Berlin is the home of Berlin Gardens in the heart of Amish country. While the weather there and back was less than fun to drive through their dealer seminar was an informative and helpful experience. I had the opportunity to tour the facilities and see the furniture in production. There were thorough explanations of the company and product. I also had the chance to see and feel the quality and comfort of nearly every available piece. The piece of peanut butter pie I had was incredible, too. If you get a chance to visit the area I would certainly recommend Berlin Hotel and Suites. The rooms were nice and they have great amenities for a very reasonable price. Most importantly, my trip let me see the heart and soul of a wonderful new product line that we are excited to offer. I encourage everyone to come check it out in the beginning of March when our stock order arrives. As they mentioned at the seminar, this is a product designed and built by a community of craftspeople…and it shows. Commercial And Contract Furniture
Recently we sent out some catalogs of Telescope Furniture to many of our local home owner’s associations, condos, hotels, and the like. When you think about it there is almost certainly some place that we all visit that has a large amount of outdoor casual furniture. Well we were just trying to reach out and let some of those places know about some early season promotions Telescope was offering, and since I’m sure we didn’t reach everyone I thought I would take this chance to ask you all if there is anyone you know that may be due for some replacement furniture…or new furniture. Contract and commercial furniture has special warranties and generally prices out lower due to production savings with larger volumes. That furniture has to come from somewhere and I’m not sure everyone realized that we are one such source. If you can think a place or know of anyone that has been exploring contract furniture please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

“Green” Products Are Growing
The pool, spa, and casual furniture industries are taking note of the movement toward ecological responsibility and they are chipping in. Efficiency is increasingly important, but today I want to introduce you to some of the new patio products that we will be offering to do our part. Apart from using many recyclable products, like aluminum, we will be offering a greater selection of recycled furniture products. We are going to be carrying a new line of recycled polymer products as well as some of Telescope Casual’s award winning Marine Grade Polymer products. These products not only used recycled materials, but they are also essentially maintenance free. Keep Your Furniture Looking Great!
If you plan on keeping your furniture outside for the winter, cover it up. We have a great line of protective covers that will keep the furniture looking great for years to come. And remember, if you have tubular furniture and you hear water sloshing inside, it must be drained to avoid serious damage to the furniture. Tubular furniture has weep holes that are well hidden in low points. Make sure those holes are not blocked. –Max

Every year in September a few of us here at Eastgate Pools & Spas head up to Chicago for a four day show dedicated to casual furniture and patio accessories. We meet with our vendors and see the latest and greatest products, new finishes, new fabrics, and new designs. What continues to be the biggest category represented is all weather wicker. We have seen great growth in this category and we continue to expand our options in this product line. We will have some new options this year to fit an even wider spectrum of needs. As we continue to sift through the expansive options to bring to our showroom next season it occurred to me that this blog would be a great medium for our customers to tell us about their desires. I would love to hear your feedback on styles, colors (frames and fabrics), or any other suggestions for products that would be of interest to you. Naturally we try to use buying trends and industry trends to ensure we have the best product selection available to our customers, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have some direct input from the people that are actually looking to furnish their outdoor living space. We would love to know if you are interested in more accessory options such as plates, placemats, glassware, outdoor décor, and so on. Don’t Put Furniture Just Away Yet!
Even though the summer has come to an end, some of the best times to use your outdoor furniture are coming up. Temps below 80 are here. Evenings are cooling down. Outdoor dining can be relaxing and a great way to connect with friends and family members. It always has seemed to me that when you eat outdoors people seem to linger a little longer after a meal.

Early Birds, Procastinators & Great Furniture Deals
They say that the early bird gets the worm, but sometimes the procrastinator gets rewarded as well. I know, for us planners, this doesn’t always seem fair. What does this have to do with Eastgate Pools & Spas? Plenty!
Recently, we received a phone call from Telescope Casual, a 100+ year-old American casual furniture manufacturer. They were preparing to update their Chicago Merchandise Mart Showroom with 2011 product. The Chicago area dealer that was supposed to buy the showroom full of 2010 product backed out at the last minute and Telescope needed a another dealer to step up to the plate. Having purchased the showroom numerous times in the past, Eastgate Pools was familiar with the logistics involved, and we made Telescope an offer. The offer was accepted and last Wednesday a group of us made the trip to Chicago to prepare the showroom for its move to Cincinnati. By Thursday afternoon, several 53’ truckloads of Telescope Casual furniture were on their way back to our store.
So, how does this all fit together? For those customers that were planning on buying new outdoor furniture this spring and haven’t gotten around to it yet, you can purchase quality Telescope Casual furniture at greatly reduced prices. We bought right and we are passing on the savings. So don’t worry that spring has become summer. Your procrastinating has paid off!
