Darts, Darts, Darts
I’m not sure everyone is even aware that we have darts here at Eastgate Pools, but we not only have darts (steel tip and soft tip), we also have boards, cabinets, and most other accessories you might need. I played a lot of darts in college and really came to enjoy the game and I think it is a game that more people would enjoy if more people set up a board in their house. One of the best things about darts is that it is a game where you can really develop some skill…and you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money to get started. For me steel tip darts is the way to go, but we have plenty of soft tip options for younger players along with several electronic boards that will keep score for you. I encourage you all to consider giving darts a try. I’m sure you will like it.

Fall Switcheroo . . .
Every year in October you can expect to see some major changes in products shown in each of our showrooms. Just a couple of weeks ago I took off my salesman hat and helped to move the bulk of our casual furniture to our second showroom and we loaded up the primary showroom with all the fun game tables for those cold months indoors. Pop A Shot
We have one of the simplest yet fun games made here at the store. It’s amazing to see children walk in the door and make a b line for the pop a shot. I don’t know what it is about shooting mini basketballs into a smaller hoop but it is addictive. We obviously don’t sit here at work and play it because we are all far to professional but I invite everyone and their families to come in and try it out and see how this simple game can bring a smile to your face.
Attention Table Tennis Fans!
Are you an avid table tennis player? Are you an occasional Player? Table Tennis is skyrocketing in popularity, with high-end clubs devoted to the game opening up in cities across the USA. If you are going to play table tennis, you have to have at least limited equipment. Things like a table tennis table that is complete with net and posts, paddles, and balls are all kind of important to the game. Without any of these items, the game sort of lacks something.
The good news is that Eastgate Pools has all of the equipment you need. Whether regulation table tennis tables, conversion tops that go on top of your pool table, nets and posts, paddles, and balls, we have it all. And not to brag, but our selection of paddles is pretty darn big. Walking by the display the other day, I think I counted around 14 different models of table tennis paddles. Interestingly enough, they still haven’t come out with a paddle that will help my game enough to finally win a game or two while playing against my wife. If they do, it will probably need to resemble a tennis racket. now I am not saying I am bad or that she is that good, I am just saying that she has been winning most of our table tennis matches for 25 years. Ouch!!! It sure hurts to admit these defeats. – David

ot really hard for my beloved Bearcats, as do many who work here. But once again it looks like we will be watching them in the NIT and not the Big Dance. I might be wrong but it sure doesn’t look good. The Big East is the best conference year in and year out, and anybody can beat each other on any given day. Lets hope the Cats can make a late season run with some upsets over Uconn, Louisville and Georgetown. Regardless if you like UC or not, at Eastgate Pools and Spas we have all the locals covered. Maybe you are a diehard Xavier fan in search of some barstools your friends can sit in to watch the game. How about that perfect Kentucky pub table that would look great in your UK themed basement. A New Take On An Old Standard . . .
One of the best selling game table choices in my 7 years here at Eastgate Pools has been the conversion top. In case you don’t know what that is, it is a two piece table tennis surface that you place on top of your pool table, air hockey table, dining table, or other surface to have a regular 9’ x 5’ playing surface. Well, we just recently received a new style that solves the old problem of protecting the surface underneath. Our new model is thicker than older models (measuring 5/8” thick) and has a completely rubberized bottom for ultimate protection. All this and accessories included and reasonably priced to boot. It’s Tip Off Time!!!
I won’t say what college basketball team is my favorite as I’m sure I am in the minority here, but this is the start of my favorite sports season of the year. NCAA basketball is incredible especially when you consider we are in the home stretch for the NFL and college football. At any rate, I thought this might be a good time to point out a new product line here at Eastgate Pools…just in time for your basketball viewing pleasure. It’s Changeover Time!

How To Spot Quality
It’s that time of year where game tables become a hot commodity once again. I would say our biggest seller, other than a pool table, is the infamous air hockey table. The tricky thing about game tables is that often times it is difficult to spot quality. Sure, you want a table to look pretty, but if you want your table to last you’ll need to look for more than just aesthetics. First and foremost you want a good, durable playing surface. Tables with a smooth, thick surface will allow for your optimal game experience. The smooth surface will allow the puck to glide easier across the table, while the thick top will provide a more durable table with less chance of warping. Air distribution is also a very important factor to consider. A table with air channels will provide the most even distribution of the air through the holes in the surface. This will help keep the puck from getting stuck in bad spots on the table, allowing it to glide even easier across the surface. Finally, you want to make sure the structure of the table itself is sturdy enough to sustain hours of vigorous play!
