Sometime when you have some time to play around on the web, like after you’ve checked out the entire Eastgate Pools web site, do a search for Gatlinburg Chalet Rentals. Go to a few realtors’ web sites and you will notice a common theme. More and more rentals feature hot tubs, pool tables and game tables. Chalet owners know that prospective renters are looking for quality time to spend with their loved ones, and they are looking to have fun, as after all, the renters are on vacation. By providing these amenities, the chalet owner increases the likelihood of renting out their property.
This Gatlinburg phenomenon reminds me once again why Eastgate Pools & Spas’ motto is “Resort living …at home”. Vacations are great, but the same things that help make vacation fun can be enjoyed year-round right in your very own home.
How To Spot Quality
It’s that time of year where game tables become a hot commodity once again. I would say our biggest seller, other than a pool table, is the infamous air hockey table. The tricky thing about game tables is that often times it is difficult to spot quality. Sure, you want a table to look pretty, but if you want your table to last you’ll need to look for more than just aesthetics. First and foremost you want a good, durable playing surface. Tables with a smooth, thick surface will allow for your optimal game experience. The smooth surface will allow the puck to glide easier across the table, while the thick top will provide a more durable table with less chance of warping. Air distribution is also a very important factor to consider. A table with air channels will provide the most even distribution of the air through the holes in the surface. This will help keep the puck from getting stuck in bad spots on the table, allowing it to glide even easier across the surface. Finally, you want to make sure the structure of the table itself is sturdy enough to sustain hours of vigorous play! Looking For A Game Table Or Pool Table?
As the billiard and game table buyer for Eastgate Pools & Spas, my attention increases any time I see ads for these product lines. What I have noticed during the last year or so, and especially very recently, is that many of my competitors have reduced their offerings of game tables and pool tables. Well, I am happy to report that Eastgate has not followed their example, as our selection of game tables and pool tables is as large, if not larger than ever. While billiards and game tables is just a little side item for some stores, it is an important part of Eastgate Pool’s constant desire to provide resort living at home for our customers. So while others are cutting back to save some money on inventory, our game table and pool table selection is as large as ever.
Baby It’s Cold Outside – How About Inside Games?
Do you like to play pool and ping-pong but only have room for one table? Well, we have two options for you:
1. Do without one and miss out on half the fun (NOT recommended!)
2. Get the pool table and then add a conversion top. This is a regulation ping-pong table that is in two pieces and it rests on top of the pool table. This lets you have a full size version of both in just half the space. And don’t worry about scratching the pool table with the conversion top, as there is a protective pad that is attached to the conversion top. When you aren’t using the conversion top, store it under the pool table.
Family Fun Times
With the winter season quickly approaching and the warm temperatures gone, the family will be spending more time together indoors. If you are in the situation that I am with 2 kids that are always looking for something new to do, it may be a time to look at a game table. This year we still have our old stand-by favorites with foosball, air hockey, and table tennis. More importantly we have some other items that will entertain parents and kids alike such as the QB passing game, side by side basketball game, and a skee-ball type game. Let The Shopping Begin
As Thanksgiving approaches everyone thinks of turkey, stuffing, football, and shopping for the holidays. As “Black Friday” gets closer people begin to gear up for the race to find the best deals on those hard to find items. We camp out in front of the stores so we can be in the front to get the one item our kids just cant live without.
Here at Eastgate Pools and Spas we get into the holiday shopping as we go back to our summer hours and stay open until 8PM Monday through Friday. Our weekend hours are still the same but we also will stay a little later if need be. We offer items such as Air Hockey, Foosball, and Pool Tables, which will bring you and your family together for that long needed bonding. It’s Season Change Over Time
If you stop at the store today you will notice a big difference in our showrooms. We have moved most of our casual furniture to our ‘new’ showroom, located just across our parking lot. In exchange, we have brought to our main showroom all of our fall gaming tables and games—foosball, air hockey, table tennis, poker and card tables that also have bumper pool…and some new items you won’t want to miss. We have non-slate billiard tables that have a top you put on that makes it a beautiful dining table. There is a giant craps table with a removable top that turns the table into a Texas Hold’em table or a dining table. Back by popular demand is a basketball shootout game that lets two players compete against themselves or the clock, a football toss game, and a Roll-A-Score game that is just plain fun! In addition, we have brought over our bars and pub tables.

A Cure for Cabin Fever
I don’t know about anyone else but there’s nothing worse than being stuck at home with nothing to do. (Our recent winter storm definitely confirmed this!!) Well if you want to get the kids away from the computer or the xBox, a game table can help. Whether your game is foosball or air hockey, pool or poker, you can get these from Eastgate Pools & Spas and you don’t have to spend a fortune. And there is no rule that says you have to play poker on the poker table. Maybe your choice is pinochle or Euchre. And there is no law against setting up the Monopoly game on the table either. – Stacey
Introducing David
Hello, this is David. Don’t laugh, but this is my first blog ever. I have been in the swimming pool business since 1980, and I have been with Eastgate Pools & Spas since 1984. What started as a way to earn my college money became my career after college. I always tell people that pool business just got into my blood. There is something about working with swimming pools, spas, pool tables, game tables, and casual furniture that I truly enjoy. I think it is the fact that in retail, everyday is different. Add in the change in products for the changes in seasons, and my job is always changing!
I have always enjoyed helping people, and I love to teach. If I wasn’t in the pool business, I probably should have been a teacher. In my future blogs, I hope to use my many years of experience to help people learn more about the use and care of the products carried by Eastgate Pools. Even if your pool, spa, casual furniture set, or pool table didn’t come from Eastgate Pools, I hope I can still answer a few questions that you might have. David
