Investing In Your Pool’s Well Being

What’s new at Eastgate Pools?  Well, if you own a pool or spa, you might be interested in knowing that there is lots of “new” to be found at the test center.  Within the last week, we have taken delivery of our second brand new, state of the art test lab. The first new lab arrived and went into service a few weeks earlier, replacing an older model.  The addition of this second lab gives us the ability to serve two customers simultaneously, meaning shorter wait times on those really busy days when it seems like everyone decided to have their water tested at the same time.

These water test labs are the very latest technology available from Palintest, and they will help insure accurate results that will help us to help you keep your pool or spa water clean, clear and safe.  These new labs are costly, but we consider them an investment in your pool’s well being.  At Eastgate Pools, we are committed to being your pool or spa professional.  Try getting a state of the art water test at those big box stores where they don’t know pool water and they certainly don’t test it!

You Have To Check This Spa Out!

The model I am referring to is the Mira M10000.  I’ve never seen a hot tub like this one and while it doesn’t fall into the ‘economy’ price points, it’s not as much as you might think.  You can see it on our web site, but here is the gist.  3 pumps, seats 5-6, dozens and dozens of jets that hit just about everywhere you can imagine, jets that LIGHT UP in a variety of colors, a sound system that lets you listen to your favorite music on radio, CD, or your own device, and speakers both inside and outside the hot tub for when you want to entertain with using the hot tub.  You’ve got to see it in person so stop in and get the complete tour.  –Max

Do You Have An IPhone Or IPod?

Bring it to the store and we’ll plug it into the docking station of our Sundance Hot Tub.  Chances are your music will sound it’s very best.  I have a great inventory of Sundance Hot Tubs that have iPod Docking stations with JBL speakers and the sound quality is preposterously good.  You need to experience it.  Don’t have an iPod?  We can demo it here at the store with our own units so that you can experience the most amazing sound system on the spa market.  You may decide to get an iPod, or even better, a Sundance Spa.  –Max

Max’s Big Bargain Spa Tent Sale

We’ve turned into Tent City here at Eastgate Pools & Spas.  Not only do we have two outdoor tents featuring 1200 sq. ft. of outdoor casual furniture demos and special deals, we now have a third tent set up with some special spas that we need to move!  These are special units.  Several are last ones– one-of-a-kind demos.  There are also a couple that have SMALL imperfections that are leading us to sell them off at BIG discounts.  There is even one that I flat out just ordered wrong for a customer.  They used it for a couple weeks while I got the correct spa in and then we switched them out.  My error but some lucky customer will reap the benefits of my ‘oops’ moment.

Stop in on.  Deals are to be had for the lucky that decide to visit.  –Max

See Us At The Home And Garden Show . . . Get your Hot Tub!!

Eastgate Pools is prominently displayed at this year’s Fifth Third Bank Cincinnati Home and Garden Show at the Duke Energy Convention Center.  There—did I get all the sponsor’s names in that sentence?  Kind of like a NASCAR race. Anyway, our return features some great deals on Hot Tubs.  Factory representatives will be there and we’ll have some incredible prices on quality first-run hot tubs.  Why not stop on down and pick one out.  Or just stop and say hi to me.  I’ll be there for the entire show, which runs February 26-27, and March 2-6.  It is closed on Monday February 28 and Tuesday March 1.

Want to attend for free? Well stop at the store and get a VIP pass for FREE admission on Wednesday March 2, Thursday March 3, or Friday March 4.  I have a limited supply of these VIP passes so I’ve placed a limit of four per request or until they are gone.  Just see any of our store sales phenoms for your free VIP passes.  –Max

Spa Covers

With a fair amount of snow this season, we have had a couple of customers come in to get a new spa cover.  Without thinking, they used their snow shovel to push the snow off.  In both instances, there were little tiny rough spots on the shovel and they tore their covers.  Don’t use shovels.  A simple brooming of the cover will suffice.  I do not recommend just lifting the cover and letting the snow slide off unless it is very light snow.  Heavier snow mixed with ice can make the weight very heavy.  When you lift it up the foam can crack from the stress or the handles can rip out.  Either way, at this point it is new cover time.  –Max

Don’t Worry Be Happy

We just had a customer in the store today who has had their hot tub for a total of three days and they came in for their very first water test as proud new owners of their hot tub.  They were worried that they were doing something wrong and could potentially harm the tub.  When I found out how long they have had their tub I decided to have a little fun with them, and told them that they needed to be careful or they could really mess it up.  After I calmed them down I told them to relax, and that within the first month they will probably have to drain it and start over but that it won’t be their fault.  People tend to over think a hot tub and forget that the chemicals they get when they buy the tub are there to make it as easy as possible.  Stop worrying over your chemicals so much and enjoy your new toy.  Come back and see me in about 2 weeks.

One That Always Get Me . . .

As the freezing weather arrives we begin to get questions about taking care of different seasonal products to protect against the icy temperatures.  The one that always perplexes me is “How do I winterize my spa?”  What?!  Maybe it isn’t for everyone, but the winter is one of the best times of year to use your spa.  The cold literally melts away when you immerse yourself in that 100 plus degree water.  It is also great to relieve the tension that builds in your shoulders from trying so hard to stay warm throughout the day.  If you normally close down your spa, I encourage you to at least give at few tries first.  It is a tremendous experience.  If you still want to close it down just give us a call and we can walk you through the best process for winterizing your spa…but I might still try to talk you out of it…for your own benefit of course.

Keep Rover Off YOur Spa Cover!

Sure – right.  If your dog is anything like mine, he’ll do what he darned well wants to do. Every year we have several replacement spa cover orders from where the big – I mean BIG! – family pet crawled on top the cover to take a nap.  Well guess what – he’s going to do it again so you’re throwing good money away simply getting a standard new cover.  Instead, I’d like to recommend our new 6” cover.  It is about two inches thicker than most covers and that makes it stronger.  Better yet, one of our fiberglass-reinforced covers is an even stronger choice.  It has an upper and lower level of fiberglass that should allow the cover to hold up to just about any pet.  Unless the pet is a horse, such as the famous Mr. Ed.  Then again, nobody can talk to a horse of course… –Max

Spa Parts, Pool Parts And More!

Are you starting to get that hot tub going that hasn’t been running in over 2 years?  Do you need parts for it??  We can help!!  We keep all kinds of spa and pool parts in stock and if not we can order it!!  I am pretty confident we can get the part for you.  Bring the part in and we will try to get you out the door with the part !!  Of course sometimes will have to order which usually takes about 7-10 days to get in!!  So don’t waste your time and get into Eastgate Pools and Spas for all your replacement part needs.  You never know, you might even find a new hot tub or pool table that you been dying to have!!

Spa Covers

As winter approaches it is more important than any other time of year to make sure your spa cover is providing the best possible insulation.  If your cover is broken down, holding water, or seems to have reached the end of its life cycle we can generally order you a replacement cover.  There are a variety of colors, foam densities, and sizes available at very reasonable prices (there has only been one price increase in the last 10 years).  Now, in order to get you the right fit we need your help in getting us the proper measurements and our website has a couple of very helpful templates for you to use (linked below).  If you bought your spa here there is always the possibility that we will actually have a replacement cover in stock.  We cannot order every cover out there as some manufacturer have some nuances that are not met by our cover supplier, but this is a rare case.  It can take anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks to order a replacement cover made to your specifications, so don’t wait too long if are in need.  Please use the links below as a helpful guide to get started.  We look forward to see you!

Sundance Spa Advantage

Last December one of the premier lines of spas became available to us and we enthusiastically took them on. Sundance Spas offers a truly unique spa ownership experience. Sundance offers a combination of luxury performance and quality that is unrivaled in the spa industry. Around 5 years ago Sundance rolled out their Fluidix ST jets, a true game changer is spa technology. Jets on spas have always been the Achilles heel on a spa. Everyone likes a jet that gives movement to the water and in the past and still today spa manufactures accomplish this by putting ball bearings into a jet and the force of the water swivels the jet around. The problem with these type of jets is, ball bearing and water aren’t a recipe for a long lived product. The jets eventually get calcified and stop spinning or the bearings wear out and the jets pops out spitting ball bearing into the tub. In either outcome, the customer needs to replace the jet (and there are lots of jets on a spa). The Fluidix ST jet from Sundance has done away with all moving parts of a jet and gives the bather an unparalleled massage experience far better then your typical jet with bearings. I personally sold these jet in Cleveland at a retail store I once worked for and since I’ve been around them, I haven’t seen one jet malfunction. Most spas offer a one year warranty on jets, due to the fact that they don’t last very long. Sundance offers in industry leading 5 year non prorated warranty on their jets!

There are many, many reasons why Sundance is the best spa in the market today. However, listing them all in this blog would turn it into a novel. So, when you get a chance and if you are in the market for the best spa available, stop by Eastgate Pools and find out what the best spa looks and feels like. You can also check them out more at-  www.sundancespas.com .

Refilling Your Hottub

Now that we are getting a break in the weather this is a prime time to drain and re-fill the spa. One thing you may want to consider is a product called Swirl Away, if you have noticed that your rotating jets are not rotating as well as they used to. Over time calcium and something called total dissolved solids will build up in the system and not allow things to work properly. The treatment with Swirl away will help break these things down and hopefully get things restored to the way they used to be. A bit of information for you, once the swirl away is used the spa will have to be drained, as such use this prior to replacing the water. One call that I receive quite a bit this time of year is a complaint that the display on the spa says ice once it is refilled. Let me assure you this is normal, when the water is below 60 degrees, as it is coming out of the tap right now, the sensors send a signal to the display panel to show the ice trouble message. Once the water rises to above 60 degrees this message will disappear. Just remember we are here on weekends to help guide you through this process and answer any questions you may have.

Change Your Hot Tub’s Water

I know we’ve had some warm days and that spring is just around the corner, but if you’ve been waiting to change the water in your hot tub, do it ASAP! If you go too long between changes, total dissolved solids build up and calcium levels increase to the point where the calcium clogs filters and scale builds up on the shell.  Then you have far more cleaning issues than dealing with some less than perfect weather.  –Max
