Don’t Pump YOur Pool Dry

Winter covers get pinholes in them.  Sorry but it happens.  When people pump water off their covers, pool water frequently gets pulled through the cover.  This gives a false leak worry. Remember that just because the water level in the pool seems to be too low, it does not mean you have a leak.  Check your water level when you get the cover off. If it continues to drop you have a leak.  If not, you might want to consider a new winter cover this fall.  –Max

Replacement Diving Boards – They Are Not all the Same!

We literally get HUNDREDS of requests each spring for a replacement diving board or board base.  Not all boards are the same though so it can be difficult to make sure you get the right board.  If you got your pool from us, we’ll have a record.  If not, here is how we can help when you need a replacement board or base.  While there are a couple odd-balls out there (boards that is), there are basically only three different boards.  In order for us to help you get the correct replacement board, you need to measure the bolt holes on the board itself.  Draw us a little diagram and measure the distance from the bolts.  Then measure the bolt pattern on the jig (the re-bar studs coming out of the concrete deck).  This will tell us what diving board or replacement base you need.  Photos help too. – Max

Buying the Right Above Ground Pool

apr-09-buy-right-ag-pool1

There are a lot of quality features on above ground pools, but one that stands out is our pool saver panel.  This is a removable panel about four feet wide that holds the skimmer and the return.  Ours matches the look of the pool so that the design you chose isn’t interrupted-you never know it’s there as it blends in.  It gives you maximum protection at the most vulnerable spot on the wall.  That said, you can still get a great pool with a continuous wall.  Simply check your gaskets closely twice yearly and make sure there is no leak or deterioration and if so, tighten or replace the gaskets as needed.  The pool saver panel guarantees that if the skimmer or return rust out, you won’t have to replace the whole pool – just the pool saver panel.  If a pool with a continuous wall rusts out, you will need to replace the entire wall and that is why your twice yearly inspection of the skimmer and return are so important. – Max
