It is reaching that time of year where all of the box stores are moving on to Halloween accessories and away from outdoor furniture. That is not the case here! We still have two showrooms and three tents full of quality casual furniture products for you to choose from. As summer comes to a close and the fall approaches people sometimes forget that is probably the most comfortable time of years to step outside and enjoy the weather. As we start to put together orders for next year’s patio groupings we have to weed out discontinued frame and fabric patterns and styles. That means big savings for you. I encourage anyone in the market to stop out and take a look at some of these great values. Old Sayings Are Often True
We have all heard the saying that you get what you pay for, and recently I saw a great example showing how true this saying really is. Back in 2002, we sold a local swim club several sets of Telescope furniture. Over the years, the club has added additional sets and chaise lounges as their budget allowed.
Last fall, I was talking to the club treasurer about furniture for his home and he mentioned that they had a couple of chairs at the swim club that they were going to need to throw away. I asked why, and he said that the slings had worn out. He thought the chairs were finished and destined for the landfill, as that is what they had to do with previous furniture that they had bought elsewhere. I told him NO! There are lots of reasons why Eastgate Pools sells Telescope brand furniture on most of our contract furniture sales, and the availability of replacement glides, slings, and other parts is just one of them. I had the customer stop by with the chairs, and within a minute I confirmed that all they needed were a couple of new slings and some replacement glides for the bottom of chairs. While I had the chairs in front of me, I also looked for the production sticker that Telescope places on their furniture. These chairs were from 2002, and had served the club for nine (9) seasons. They had never gotten this much life out of previous furniture, and even better news is that once the new slings arrive, they will have more years of service to give. Somewhere, a landfill is also happy!
And by the way, as great as Telescope Casual Furniture is for commercial applications, it is even better in residential settings. Let’s face it; it is hard out there for contract furniture!
So Long Winter!
I need Spring, sunlight and warmer weather. Thankfully Santa Clause is long gone and the Easter Bunny can’t come soon enough for me. I look forward to sure signs of Spring at the store. In a few weeks we will be seeing new colors and new styles of outdoor patio furniture along with our extensive selection of returning favorites. I am really anxious to see and try out the Amish made poly furniture made from recycled materials. The colors are bright and cheery and would add a splash to any back yard.
I enjoy talking to the swimming pool customers that are now coming through the doors. I get a chance to talk about a warm weather, summer fun item. It is fun to imagine that in about ten weeks they could be looking out the window and see an addition that is going to give them a whole season full of entertainment.

We’ve got a lot of new furniture that is getting ready to or has already hit our receiving docks. We need to make space, therefore we’ve put clearance pricing on a large selection of furniture that isn’t in this current year’s line up. Commercial And Contract Furniture
Recently we sent out some catalogs of Telescope Furniture to many of our local home owner’s associations, condos, hotels, and the like. When you think about it there is almost certainly some place that we all visit that has a large amount of outdoor casual furniture. Well we were just trying to reach out and let some of those places know about some early season promotions Telescope was offering, and since I’m sure we didn’t reach everyone I thought I would take this chance to ask you all if there is anyone you know that may be due for some replacement furniture…or new furniture. Contract and commercial furniture has special warranties and generally prices out lower due to production savings with larger volumes. That furniture has to come from somewhere and I’m not sure everyone realized that we are one such source. If you can think a place or know of anyone that has been exploring contract furniture please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Keep Your Furniture Looking Great!
If you plan on keeping your furniture outside for the winter, cover it up. We have a great line of protective covers that will keep the furniture looking great for years to come. And remember, if you have tubular furniture and you hear water sloshing inside, it must be drained to avoid serious damage to the furniture. Tubular furniture has weep holes that are well hidden in low points. Make sure those holes are not blocked. –Max
Chicago Furniture Mart
Every year in September a few of us here at Eastgate Pools & Spas head up to Chicago for a four day show dedicated to casual furniture and patio accessories. We meet with our vendors and see the latest and greatest products, new finishes, new fabrics, and new designs. What continues to be the biggest category represented is all weather wicker. We have seen great growth in this category and we continue to expand our options in this product line. We will have some new options this year to fit an even wider spectrum of needs. As we continue to sift through the expansive options to bring to our showroom next season it occurred to me that this blog would be a great medium for our customers to tell us about their desires. I would love to hear your feedback on styles, colors (frames and fabrics), or any other suggestions for products that would be of interest to you. Naturally we try to use buying trends and industry trends to ensure we have the best product selection available to our customers, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have some direct input from the people that are actually looking to furnish their outdoor living space. We would love to know if you are interested in more accessory options such as plates, placemats, glassware, outdoor décor, and so on. Think Spring
I know Spring is right around the corner. At least I keep telling
myself this every time the Weather Channel mentions the chance of more
snow.
I’ve decided to “think Spring” and start planning on what new patio
furniture will replace what I have now.
I will start seeing many of the new styles and colors coming to the
floor within the next couple of weeks. Just in case I don’t see the
one that is just right for me, I also have the option of choosing
from several outstanding manufacturers. Each of them have several
styles and lots of different fabric selections and best of all I will
have plenty of time to order and have my new furniture at my home in
time for the warmer weather.
My children also are really excited about my new purchase because
they will inherit my 10 year old Telescope furniture It is still in
great condition after all that time. Turns out it is a win-win
situation.
